Building on the incredible work that Michelle Bleakley had been doing for some years, Jude Hamer and Gerard McCallum have targeted growing the reach of The Heights Personal Training for members of the community in Balgowlah Heights. As a new business, they strive to work with individuals who are eager to get their day off to a good start under the school cola at Balgowlah Heights Infant School for their first course at 6am and in Tania Park for their second course at 9am.
Gerard believes in an active, healthy lifestyle, and lives it through competitive surfing and skateboarding, as well as numerous certifications in Fitness and Fitness Instruction. Jude began her career as a Registered Nurse and has competed in numerous triathlons and long run events.
Those early courses are aimed at executives, parents getting out the door before their children are ready for school and other professionals who want to get their day off to the right start. Combined with the lovely sense of community and the vigour with which everyone takes to the training, it’s a unique experience for both Jude and Gerard and the people who join their courses.
Some parents in the community go as far as to take turns going to classes before their children go to school, and the use of the school space allows the classes to continue even if it is raining in Tania Park. This has really helped the team of Hamer and McCallum expand what they offer and ensure their services are available in all weather conditions, regardless of season or rain. Both trainers also offer personal sessions at Tania Park upon request.
Classes start at $17 per week but can be purchased with an unlimited pass each week for $50. You can learn more about the work Jude and Gerard are doing on their website, theheightspersonaltraining.com.au. Some morining when the weather isn’t ideal the group also meets at Balgowlah Heights Public School under the KOLA.
