Dripping Wet has been a mainstay on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in Manly for over 18 years. In that time, the shop and its owner, Andrew, have been where you go when you need to rent a board, buy a new board, get something second hand or pick up a new pair of trunks or a wet suit.
As someone who used to surf a lot more than I do now and who has been to this particular shop multiple times over the year, I love the way they integrate with the community.
As one of the more iconic surf shops on the Northern Beaches, Dripping Wet has something for everyone – all different ages, shapes, and sizes. From young children just learning to surf on soft boards to 60 year olds looking for new long boards, there are plenty of options here. It’s one of my favourite shops around, and where I bought a particularly beautiful board not too long ago that they had hanging on the wall.
While Dripping Wet has something for everyone, one of the things they are best known for is their selection of second-hand and rental boards. Whenever I have friends or visitors in from overseas, this is where I send them to rent boards. They tend to need a learning board – something soft if they’re feeling super new to the sport – and Dripping Wet is perfect to help them find the right board for that.
Andrew and his shop have connections with all the local surf clubs and frequently see members of them and those who surf professionally or just take the sport seriously drop in from time to time to pick up new supplies and prepare for a day in the water. If you’re looking for new surfing supplies or a new board, Dripping Wet is open Monday-Friday from 9am-6pm and Saturday-Sunday from 8am-6pm.
